Better Patient Waiting Room
A calmer, patient-focused waiting room—co-designed for access, dignity and getting things done while you’re here. We’ve redesigned the space with patients and accessibility experts so it’s welcoming and easy to navigate.
What’s new
- Patient Health Pod for regular checks (blood pressure, weight).
- QR self check-in alongside reception.
- Educational desks for health information and forms.
- Hearing loop for clearer sound.
- Clear signage and a quieter area if you prefer a low-stimulus space.
- Child play area.
- Local artist mural celebrating healthy lifestyles and our multicultural community.
Help while you wait
Our Care Coordinator and Sirona Health Link interpreters can: book appointments, support screening and immunisations, guide you through online requests and the NHS App, or use Pocket Talk for quick conversations if English isn’t your first language. We’ll help you get to the right person first time.
Need help now? Speak to the Care Coordinator or ask reception for an interpreter.
Designed for everyone
We worked with patient groups and organisations including Bristol Dementia Alliance, RNIB, hearing-impaired and neurodivergent representatives, and a health architect to design a space with accessibility at its heart. The result is calmer, clearer and easier for all ages and needs.
If you’re worried or in distress
Life experiences and trauma can make visiting the GP hard. Our team responds with compassion, privacy and appropriate clinical care—and, where possible, we prioritise continuity with a clinician you know. Tell us if you need a quieter space or extra support.
New to the area or without an address?
You can register with us even if you have no fixed abode. We can record this to improve support and care continuity—ask the Care Coordinator for help to register today.
Building community in the waiting room
We’re developing weekly VCFSE drop-ins to boost digital skills, strengthen trust and make it easier to access health services and education where you already are.
