Open Doors Clinic – One-Stop Multidisciplinary Support for People Who Use Drugs
Healthcare without judgement, all in one visit. Every Tuesday afternoon our Open Doors Clinic offers longer, flexible appointments so you can sort physical, mental and social health needs in one place—and leave with a clear plan. Led by Health Inequalities GP Fellow Dr Vish Ram, the clinic uses a one-stop model that makes every contact count and builds continuity with a team you know.

Who this clinic is for
If drugs are part of your life and getting help has felt difficult—or you tend to wait until crisis—this clinic is for you. We focus on improving access, building rapport and strengthening continuity, so asking for help feels easier and staying engaged feels possible.
What to expect in one visit
You’ll have a longer conversation to agree what matters today. We act there and then where we can—addressing urgent or ongoing health concerns, supporting substance-misuse prescribing, and arranging blood tests, immunisations, screening or referrals on the day. You leave with a clear follow-up plan, face to face or by phone, so nothing drops between appointments.
The team around you
We bring the right people to you so you don’t have to navigate services alone: a Care Coordinator/Social Prescriber, Treatment Room Nurse, Long-Term Conditions Nurse, and, if you prefer, a female GP—working closely with Bristol Drugs Project (BDP) to spot needs early and support you promptly.
Safety, privacy and access
Appointments are longer and more flexible for people who are harder to reach or who have experienced trauma. Interpreters and Pocket Talk are available for language support, and you can ask for a private room at any time. We meet you where you are and move at your pace.
After your visit
We book next steps before you leave and keep continuity wherever possible, so you see familiar clinicians who know your story. We also track uptake of health checks, immunisations and cancer screening in this group to make sure care is working as it should.
How to book
Ask reception for an Open Doors Clinic appointment (Tuesdays). If it’s easier, speak to our Care Coordinator in the waiting room and we’ll book you straight in.
Patients tell us they’ve “finally found a doctor that listens.” We’ll meet you without judgement and make a plan that fits your life.
